CLAIRE THOMSEN

claire thomsen

Claire Thomsen is a junior at Malibu High School. In her sixth grade year, she and her parents traveled around the world for eleven months, visiting twenty-seven countries. The trip changed her completely and opened her eyes to how the rest of the world lives. When she got back, she knew she wanted to help kids around the world in some way. Through mutual family friends, she was introduced to READ Global, who influenced Claire to raise $50,000 to build a library in her favorite country Bhutan. After almost three years of fundraising she completed her goal and visited the completed READ library center for the first time in March 2013. The library will impact 4,000 villagers in rural Bhutan. This emotional experience has changed her life, and serves as motivation to tell others how one person’s passion and efforts can benefit so many others.
